Songs
The aim of this area is to provide a resource where Worship Team members can download song lyrics and find links to purchase or listen to recordings of the songs for learning.
Songs are generally marked as ‘new’ until they’ve been played on a Sunday. If it’s not ‘new’ then you should make sure you know it because we may do it at any future meeting!

A Greater Song
» Matt Redman, Paul Baloche / 2006
A song about the greatness of God - we're looking for a way to sing a greater song to Him. Fairly laid-back pace.
NEWAll That Really Matters
» Ben Cantelon, Matt Redman / 2009
A song from Matt Redman's latest album (We Shall Not Be Shaken). There are some quite tricky lines in the chorus, and the timing is crucial but once you've got a handle on it everything flows pretty naturally. Repeating the chorus isn't easy but the lines at the end can be looped to lead back into things either building up or winding down.
Amazes Me
» Christian City Church, Oxford Falls
A great worship song from CCC Australia. Needs a lot of attention in the vocals, as it's easy to get wrong - done right, it should feel effortless and just flow.
NEWBecause Of Your Love
» Paul Baloche, Brenton Brown / 2008
A lively bouncy praise song, so true
Blessing, Honour
» Eoghan Heaslip / 2006
A song with very simple lyrics - blessing, honour, glory and power be to our God forever. A powerful worship song with a great chorus.
Communion
» Mac Powell, Third Day / 2005
The music to this song (at least this version) is by Third Day, so it has a very 'country' Southern USA feel. Obviously this song is more appropriate for a communion setting, but the words are relevant at any point.
NEWGive Us Your Courage
» Tim Hughes / 2008
Pretty much what the song title says - it's a song about standing up for God and asking for His courage to do it...
God Of All Glory
» Jeremy Riddle / 2007
A worship song with a powerful chorus and great lyrics. Can be tricky to get right, as it's easy to overload the verse - best to keep it as simple as possible.
NEWGod Of Justice
» Tim Hughes / 2007
A song about putting words into action and getting out there... It's a very powerful song with the refrain 'Fill us up and send us out' as one of its main themes.
NEWGod Of Wonders
» Marc Byrd, Steve Hindalong / 2000
A song declaring God's wonder, even extending beyond our planet. There are loads of different versions of this song, so you might have come across various recordings. The one linked via the Spotify and iTunes links is one of the simplest and easiest to follow, but this song can be built up kept quiet as appropriate.
Great And Glorious
» Jo Petch / 2008
A catchy song with a simple chorus that's easy to pick up. Watch out on the second half of each verse (there's only one verse, it's just repeated) as it's sung slightly differently, particularly the last line - it's easy to forget and just sing straight through like the first two lines. And listen carefully to the timing - some lines come in earlier than you'd expect.
Hallelujah
» Ben Cantelon / 2006
A simply amazing powerfull song, can't believe it has been around since 2006
NEWI Will Exalt You
» Brooke Ligertwood (Hillsong) / 2009
A great worship song just had to add this one,
NEWMade Me Glad
» Miriam Webster / 2001
A song I've had on my heart to do, the best version I have found is done by Hillsong, great worship song!
My God Reigns
» Matt Hooper, Jock Jones / 2008
A great new song. As well as the full band video on YouTube below, there's also a video with Matt Hooper showing how it's played. Well worth watching, as it's easy to get it wrong (and most of the congregation do): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbG3E4oL-wM
NEWNot To Us
» Chris Tomlin, Jesse Reeves / 2002
From Chris Tomlin's debut album, this song focuses the glory on God - it's a great starting song for a worship meeting.
Redeemer
» Cathy Burton / 2009
I Will Cast My Cares, great words and a good tune.
Rejoice (Come, People of The Risen King)
» Keith and Kristyn Getty, Stuart Townend / 2007
Great easter song, so simple (?) but powerful and driving
NEWRemain
» Ben Cantalon / 2009
An upbeat song with a catchy chorus, although the verses aren't necessarily straightforward.
NEWRemember
» Tim and Rachel Hughes / 2009
A simple song from Tim Hughes' latest live album (Happy Day) about remembering what Jesus did for us - it's a fairly personal song but can be fitted into worship in the right context. Easy for the congregation to pick up even if they don't know it.
Sweetly Broken
» Jeremy Riddle / 2005
A laid back song which can end up quite powerful near the end. It's important to get the right pace, and pay attention to the gap between the lines. The first chorus should be kept fairly light, but it's easy to make it sound like another part of the verse, so something needs to be different. Listen to how Jeremy Riddle makes a subtle distinction. The second time through the chorus is where it really starts to build up.
Take Me In
» Dave Browning / 1987
There are several versions of this song, which is now over 20 years old, but the version included here is as recorded by the band Kutless. It's pretty easy to remember and perform, and goes well with other songs based around E minor - although Kutless do make it a bit heavier than necessary...
Today Is The Day
» Lincoln Brewster, Paul Baloche / 2008
An upbeat song from Lincoln Brewster and Paul Baloche. It has a fairly simple riff that runs throughout the verse but it's important to come in on the right chord otherwise the whole thing falls apart.
Note that the second part of the first verse is also the second part of the second verse and that the last chorus is longer (with an added two lines before ending by repeating the main 'Today is the Day' theme.
The vocals must push the song along - this is one song where it's no good trying to follow the music and fit the words in. Be confident and it'll work!
Wonderful Maker
» Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin / 2002
Another laid back song, it can be difficult to hit the right note at the start - it's not always what you expect so it's often better to play through the verse once before you start singing. The song is by Matt Redman and Chris Tomlin, but listen to Chris Tomlin's version if you can - Matt Redman's timing is a bit odd and the whole thing seems to fall a bit flat. Done right, this song can be really powerful and lead into a good time of worship.
NEWYou Alone Can Rescue
» Mat Redman, Jonas Myrin / 2009
A great song done at grapevine, great truth great worship and so powerful. The iTunes link leads to a video with Adam Carmichael showing how to play the song.
You Are My King (Amazing Love)
» Billy James Foote / 1997
An older song that works really well live, if it's built up properly. Chorus really needs some punch, otherwise the whole song falls a bit flat.
You Never Let Go
» Matt Redman, Beth Redman / 2005
Quite a few lyrics in this song, but the chorus is simple and catchy. When sung in a lower key, the verse gets very low and needs to be sung higher, which slightly messes up the feel, but it can be done...
NEWYou're Beautiful
» Phil Wickham
Another great grapevine song we had, So powerfull
NEWYour Grace is enough
» Chris Tomlin / 2005
A great song, Should be easy for the congregation
